Milk Delivery Co. In Fergus Falls Calls It Quits

“He’d pick me up at 6 a.m. and I’d help him do the route. I was like a kid in the candy store.”

The days of milk delivery in Fergus Falls are nearly over, and rising gas and milk prices are to blame.

Quernemoen Dairy will cease operations on Wednesday, ending more than a half-century of service.

Brian Quernemoen has run the business for 22 years after taking it over from his father, LeRoy.

“I can’t compete with milk prices offered in the stores,” he said. “I feel bad my customers are paying more than they would in the grocery store.”

Quernemoen uses about a half tank of gas each day to deliver milk. Along with passing those costs onto customers, Quernemoen also had to factor in the rising cost of milk. Read more
